Legal basis: legitimate interests, namely managing pre-launch interest and responding to requests to join the waitlist.
C. To send launch-related communications you asked for
If you join the waitlist, we may use your email address to send you launch-related emails, such as confirmation of your waitlist sign-up and an email when the app becomes available.
Legal basis: legitimate interests, namely responding to your request to hear about the launch of Opes.

We use your account information, goals, financial planning information, chat history, and app activity to provide the Opes app, save your progress, display your goals, and allow you to use the app across sessions.
Legal basis: performance of a contract, where processing is necessary to provide the app to you, and legitimate interests in operating and improving the service.

We use your chat messages and relevant app context to generate responses, explain financial concepts, help you think through goals, and provide general educational support.

Legal basis: legitimate interests, namely maintaining, securing, and improving our services.
G. To send broader product news or marketing updates

5. AI processing
Opes uses artificial intelligence to generate responses in the chat feature.
Opes uses OpenAI to help provide AI chat responses. Before you can use chat, the app asks for your permission to share data for AI processing.
If you give permission and send a chat message, we may send your message, previous chat history, and relevant information from your account, such as your profile information, goals, manually entered account information, and financial planning information, to OpenAI so that Opes can generate a useful response.
OpenAI processes this data to provide the AI service to Opes. OpenAI is not permitted to use your personal data for its own independent purposes, except where its own terms or applicable law allow limited processing for security, abuse prevention, service operation, or service improvement.
Opes does not guarantee that AI-generated responses will always be accurate, complete, or appropriate for your circumstances. You should use your own judgement before making financial decisions.
6. Marketing emails and waitlist communications
If you provide your email address to join the waitlist, we may contact you about your waitlist status and the launch of Opes.
We do not intend this waitlist sign-up, by itself, to mean consent to receive all future marketing. If we want to send broader promotional emails or regular updates beyond what you specifically asked for, we will ask separately where required.
You can ask us to stop using your email for waitlist or launch communications at any time by contacting us at info@opes-app.com or by using the unsubscribe option in the relevant email, where available.
7. Who we share your personal data with
We may share personal data with trusted third parties where necessary for the purposes described above, such as:

- crash reporting and diagnostics providers;

- customer support providers;
- IT, security and support providers;

8. International transfers
Some of our service providers may process personal data outside the United Kingdom.
Where we transfer personal data internationally, we will take steps to ensure that it is protected appropriately under applicable data protection law. This may include relying on an adequacy regulation or using approved contractual safeguards where required.
9. How long we keep personal data
We keep personal data only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy.
For waitlist email addresses, our current approach is:
- we keep your email address while the waitlist is active;
- we may keep it after launch to manage launch communications and related records;
- we may delete it sooner if you ask us to do so or unsubscribe;
- we may keep it longer where necessary for legal, regulatory or evidential purposes.
For app account data, goals, financial planning information, and chat history, we generally keep this information while your account is active or while it is needed to provide the service.
We may keep some information for longer where necessary for legal, regulatory, security, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, accounting, or backup purposes.
10. Account deletion and data deletion
You can delete your Opes account in the app by going to Profile > Delete Account.
When you delete your account, we delete or anonymise personal data associated with your account, including your profile, goals, manually entered account information, chat history, and related app records, unless we need to keep certain information for legal, regulatory, security, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, accounting, or backup purposes.
You can also contact us at info@opes-app.com if you need help with account deletion or data deletion.
11. Data security
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures designed to protect personal data against unauthorised access, loss, misuse, alteration or disclosure.
However, no internet transmission, app, AI system, or storage system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
12. Cookies and similar technologies
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. Similar technologies can also be used to store or access information on your device.
UK rules generally require websites to clearly explain cookies and, for non-essential cookies, get consent before setting them. Strictly necessary cookies are the main exemption.
12.1 Cookies we currently use
At the date of this policy, we only intend to use strictly necessary cookies and similar technologies required for:
- website security;
- basic website functionality;
- load balancing;
- remembering essential technical preferences where needed to provide the service you requested.
These cookies do not require consent where they are strictly necessary, but we still describe them here for transparency.
12.2 Non-essential cookies
We do not intend to set non-essential analytics, advertising or tracking cookies on the website unless and until:
- we clearly tell you about them; and
- we obtain any consent required by law before they are set.
If this changes, we will update this policy and, where required, provide a cookie choice tool or banner.
12.3 App analytics and diagnostics
The Opes app may use analytics, diagnostics, and crash reporting technologies to help us understand usage, identify bugs, improve reliability, and keep the service secure.
Where required by law or platform rules, we will provide appropriate information or controls.
12.4 Managing cookies
You can usually control cookies through your browser settings. Blocking some cookies may affect how the website works.
If we later introduce non-essential cookies, we will also provide appropriate controls to accept or reject them where required.
13. Your data protection rights
Under applicable data protection law, you may have the right to:
- request access to your personal data;
- request correction of inaccurate personal data;
- request deletion of your personal data;
- request restriction of processing;
- object to processing based on legitimate interests;
- request portability of personal data, where applicable;
- withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent.
Where we rely on legitimate interests, you have the right to object to that processing.
You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office if you believe your personal data has been handled unlawfully.
To exercise your rights, contact us at:
info@opes-app.com
14. Children
Opes is intended for users aged 18 and over.
We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.
15. Third-party websites and services
The website or app may contain links to third-party websites or services. If you follow those links, those third parties will have their own terms and privacy policies.
We are not responsible for their content or practices.
16. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time.
The latest version published on the website will apply. If we make material changes, we will take appropriate steps to bring them to users’ attention where required.
